Educational Resources

At Classroom 2 Community, we believe that everyone deserves access to education, and that education should reflect and celebrate the diversity in our communities. That’s why we have compiled resources to help our supporters and students learn about histories and issues that have been historically underrepresented in the United States.

These resources are designed for you to explore based on specific communities and topics, whether you want to learn more about LGBTQ terminology, Latinx history,in the U.S., or community organizations supporting people with disabilities in Maryland. Click through the links below to explore, and maybe learn something new along the way!

Racial Justice Resources

These sections are devoted to highlighting the many racial groups that have shaped U.S. history, and whose stories have too often not been told. Each of these groups have faced oppression and fought for civil rights over the years. Many of these battles have come a long way, but many still have a long way to go. Staying informed on the history of racial justice as well as current issues helps build stronger communities where we’re equipped to support each other, no matter our background.

LGBTQ+ Resources

For Allies - The LGBTQ community in the United States has a long and rich history of fighting for equality and liberation. While important progress has been made in past decades, we still have a ways to go. Recent attacks targeting LGBTQ rights mean that vocal and informed allies are more important than ever. Explore the resources on this page to learn more about LGBTQ identities, history, and current issues. Creating a safe and just future is up to all of us.

For members of the LGBTQ community - In Maryland and throughout the DMV there are resources and support available to those in the LGBTQ+ community. It’s important to remember in difficult times that we’re not alone, and we’re stronger together. Visit the links on this page to learn where you can go to find community, LGBTQ-informed healthcare, and legal protection from discrimination.

Disability Resources

Up to 1 in 4 people in the United States have a disability, with the likelihood of developing a disability increasing with age, so understanding the history of disability rights and the needs that still exist today is essential to making sure that we and the people we love get the support they deserve.
